GEOTECHNICS

Studio Balossi, thanks to a great experience gained over the years, is a reference point in the sector of rock and soil consolidation for tunnelling and shaft excavation (subways, railways, roads), and, more generally, in the underground and foundation works.
The main areas of interest in detail are:

  • Consolidation and watertightness works of soils and rocks (grouting, jet grouting, deep mixing, etc.)

HYDRAULIC WORKS

In the sector of hydraulic works, Studio Balossi provides services about geotechnical and structural issues by several years.
The main activities are:

  • Consolidation and watertightness works of soils and rocks (foundation and underpinning works, impervious grouted curtains, temporary support and watertightness works for excavation, etc.)
  • Geotechinical-hydraulic stability analysis and structural design of hydraulic structures (dams, barrages, tunnels, canals)

LABORATORY

In the area of ground improvement works, Studio Balossi provides highly specialized consultancy, offering unique expertise in the development and application of grouting technology. It has the equipment, knowledge and facilities to design and analyse the fluid and set properties for various types of grout mix and resins in order to optimize rheological, injectability and strength properties.
Laboratory equipment for grouting mix tests consists of:

  • Baroid mud balance for determination of mud density
  • Electronic balance
  • Graduated cylinders for bleeding tests
  • Filter press for measurement of pressure filtration coefficient
  • Marsh funnel for viscosity tests
  • Portable rotational viscometer (rheometer) for testing cohesion, viscosity and gel strenght
  • Thermometer
  • Ph-meter
  • Injection test on soil specimen to verify mix penetration and sample strenght
